Ranking Channel is Shifting Gears in a New Direction

April 25, 2011  |   Entrepreneurship,Maximus,Random   |   0 Comment

Howdy everyone! It's been quite a while since I last posted and I couldn't feel any worse about that!   Since the last time you visited, quite a few things have changed. New Website Look n' Feel Well first of all, have you noticed that the website looks a tad bit different?  I don't claim to be a designer by any means, but I can't help but be proud of the way the site turned out as the overall design was a Maximus Kang original.  Check out the old gray and dull theme against the new white and much cleaner look. Well, I have to give credit to my fiance for her feedback and her brother for his hands-on work.  This is actually a great transition into the next section. New Ranking Channel Logo My future brother in law, KJ Chun redesigned my logo for me.   He currently works for Methodologie, a marketing strategy firm that specializes in the creation of amazing brand designs.  Check out the difference between the ...

30 Day Abs Challenge

July 20, 2010  |   Entrepreneurship,Fitness   |   4 Comments

This is my very first post in the fitness section and I hope this definitely isn't the last. For those of you guys wondering why in the world I have a fitness section on a SEO website, my ultimate goal is to help you grow your business and I've noticed that the better shape I'm in, the more productive and successful things tend to get. So there you have it. Besides, if it doesn't interest you then maybe it will interest somebody else. After all, that is the founding principle of entrepreneurship right? So I was chatting with my good friend and unofficial personal trainer, David yesterday. I told him that I wanted to build up my core strength and he gave me a very quick 20-25 minute workout that you can do everyday. It's designed for folks who either run a company or work for a company...bottom line it's for busy people who claim to not have any time to workout. I'm no personal trainer, but after years of martial arts and a 6 year military service, I know that your core ...

Why Small Businesses Fear SEO

June 21, 2010  |   Analytics,Entrepreneurship   |   3 Comments

Why does fear exist?  A great definition of fear that I found is “to be afraid or feel anxious or apprehensive about a possible or probable situation or event”.  Hmm…sounds to me like fear is basically an extension of the unknown.  In my experience, many small business owners seem to have an acute fear of SEO or online marketing in general.  I think this fear is stemmed from the fact that they just don’t understand SEO and who can blame them?  After all, the search engines are always changing around their algorithm and there is an endless list of folks who claim to know SEO, but typically regurgitate what they heard from somebody else incorrectly.  Let’s investigate these two issues a little more in detail. THE SEARCH ENGINES NEVER SIT STILL I graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematics & physics.  I’m by no means an expert in quantum physics, but SEO isn’t so different from it.  Let me explain it in layman’s terms (as best as I can).  New discoveries are made, new technologies invented, and new theories are created at a rate that is ridiculous and almost impossible to keep up ...

Plan to Win, Plan to Survive, Plan to Succeed

One of the biggest mistakes that small business owners seem to make when they begin their SEO campaign is that they don't have a plan.  I feel that with so many things I've experienced in 26 years of life, a plan seems to be a critical ingredient in success.  Consider 3 examples from my life story... A Plan to WIN It was 4th and goal with just enough time to get the ball in the hands of the quarterback to make one final play.  The team suffered so many cuts and bruises that the Band-Aid company probably experienced record sales.  One touchdown is all we needed to pull ahead and steal the championship title from our opponents.  I didn’t know what play we were going to run, but the one plan I knew the coach wouldn’t allow was for the quarterback to simply throw the ball to whoever was open. A Plan to SURVIVE The night air made it difficult to keep from shivering and remain undetected.  It had taken Bravo team more than half a day to maneuver just shy of 3 miles as stealth was a mission critical ...

Top 5 Ethical Search Engine Optimization Points

June 13, 2010  |   Entrepreneurship,Social Media   |   0 Comment

If you're looking for a good SEO consultant, there are endless characteristics that you need to be looking for depending on your business and what your goals are.  Rather than sit here and bore you with a laundry list of an attempt at manipulating you to choose me, I have 5 things you should look out for. NO guarantees -- If ANY SEO consultant guarantees a specific ranking, they either have no idea how search engines work or are using illegal “black hat” methods.  Perhaps if you're in a mood to humor them and want to see how full of bologna they are, you can ask them "How competitive are the keywords that you will rank my site for?", "How quickly can you get my site ranked for this keyword?", and "How long will these results last?" NO package deals -- Don’t let them tell you what they have, tell them what you need. A good SEO consultant knows that each website is different and that a broad “SEO Package” will not get the job done right because the meaning of “conversion” will vary per business.  The idea of a "package" option ...
